2020 Primary Election Update
Governor Hogan has declared that the 2020 Primary Election in Maryland will almost entirely be held via mail-in ballots. We will highlight the important information that you need to know to be prepared to vote.
Voting By Mail
Each eligible, active voter will be sent a ballot. You do not need to apply for a ballot unless you want it sent to a different address than what is on file, or if you want to receive your ballot electronically. If you have not received your ballot by May 12, contact the Board of Elections at 410-535-2214 or elections@calvertcountymd.gov.
Return envelope will have postage pre-paid.
Please check your voter registration record online to ensure your address is correct.
The mail-in ballot return envelope will have pre-paid postage and must be postmarked on or before Election Day (June 2). There will also be a drop box available in the parking lot outside the office of the Calvert County Election Board. (The drop box will be available from May 21-June 2 at 8:00 pm)
The oath MUST be signed by the voter.
In-Person Voting
There will be limited in-person voting on Election Day itself (June 2). This will be for voters who need additional assistance or did not receive a ballot, as well as for same-day voter registration. The Election Day in-person polling place will be at 30 Duke St. Prince Frederick.
Be prepared to follow physical distancing procedures and WEAR A MASK.
There will be NO in-person early voting.
Important Dates
Deadline to Register to Vote- May 27th. If you miss this date, you will need to register and vote in-person on Election Day. Register to vote here.
Deadline to change party affiliation- May 27
Deadline for address change- May 27
Mail-in changes must be postmarked on or before May 27. Online changes must be done by 9:00 pm on May 27. Online changes can be made here.

As of right now, the General Election in November will be proceeding in the traditional manner. We encourage you to apply for an absentee ballot now, so you are prepared to vote in the fall when the time comes.
