Applications Being Accepted to Join the Calvert County Board of Elections
The Calvert County Democratic Central Committee announces its immediate solicitation of candidates for nomination to serve on the Calvert County Board of Elections. The Calvert County Democratic Central Committee has been directed to nominate at least four (4) qualified candidates to fill three (3) vacancies on the Calvert County Board of Elections. For consideration, candidates must be registered to vote in Calvert County for at least five years prior to nomination. To apply, please email a resume including the candidate’s address and contact information to info@calvertdemocrats.com. Candidates may also apply by mailing the required documentation to PO Box 2063, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 12:00 pm.
The Calvert County Democratic Central Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 7:00 pm via Zoom to consider candidates for these vacancies. Candidates are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting to address any questions from committee members; however, attendance is not required. Candidates in attendance will be given the opportunity to provide a two (2) minute opening statement. Once all candidates have spoken, the committee will move into executive session for closed discussion. Following the executive session, a public vote will be held. The candidates receiving a majority of the votes will be nominated to serve on the Calvert County Board of Elections. Should a candidate not receive a majority vote, the committee will vote again and the candidate receiving the least number of votes will no longer be considered. This process will repeat until a candidate has received a majority vote. The selected candidates will then be submitted for review by the Office of the Governor for final appointment.
