Calvert Deserves 5 Districts

Do Chesapeake and North Beach have the same needs as Huntingtown or Lusby?  Should Prince Frederick elect the commissioner representing Solomons?

No?  We don't think so either!  But the Calvert County Redistricting Committee refuses to hold a town hall so you can make your voice heard.  Click below to let our commissioners and the committee know what you think.  We deserve better.  Calvert deserves 5 districts!

Calvert County is in the throes of local redistricting. This once-in-a-decade process will profoundly impact how we are represented at our most local level. We have the opportunity to create a better, fairer system. more equitable elections, ensuring everyone is afforded a seat at the table. Here is what we need to make it happen:

1) Consideration of a 5 district map;
2) Holding an evening town hall to allow more robust public input; and
3) Adopting in-district voting.

Unfortunately, the redistricting committee has shut us down at every turn. They've ignored similar calls by non-partisan groups like the League of Women Voters and the NAACP. Enough is enough.
