Vacancy Notice for CCDCC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Solicitation of Candidates for Calvert County Democratic Central Committee and Notice of Public Hearing

The Calvert County Democratic Central Committee announces its immediate solicitation of candidates to fill two vacancies on the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee.

Position 1, Member: Candidates must be registered Democrat, reside in Calvert County, and identify as either female or non-binary. This vacancy on the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee is specifically for the Third Commissioner District, meaning all applicants must be a resident of the Third District in order to be considered.

Position 2, Associate Member: Candidates must be registered Democrat, reside in Calvert County, and identify as either female or non-binary. This vacancy is for an associate member of the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee and is “at-large”, meaning candidates may reside anywhere in Calvert County.

The CCDCC is organized as such that each of the county’s three voting districts have a male and female identifying member (or non-binary) and four members At-Large. In order to ensure the Third District is properly represented, this current vacancy will need to be filled by an applicant from the Third District. In addition, our associate members must also be gender balanced, so because we currently have only one male associate member, the associate member vacancy is only open to female or non-binary identifying candidates in order to fulfill our required gender balance.

If you are unsure which district you reside in, please use the Maryland State Board of Elections Voter Lookup Tool to search for your Commissioner District. Also, as per state party bylaws, we must maintain a gender balance of members on the committee, because of this, only female or non-binary identifying candidates will be considered for this vacancy. If you have any questions about the role of the Democratic Central Committee and what it means to serve as a member or associate member, please see our Frequently Asked Questions or reach out at info@calvertdemocrats.com.

To apply, please email a resume including the candidate’s address and contact information to info@calvertdemocrats.com. Please also be sure to designate which position you are applying for. Candidates may choose to only apply for the full member position or associate member position, or are welcome to be considered for both. Candidates may also apply by mailing the required documentation to PO Box 2063, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. The deadline to apply is the end of the day on Wednesday, March 19th.

Candidates will be required to be interviewed at a public meeting of the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Candidates will be called in alphabetical order and provided two (2) minutes to speak. Once the interviews have been completed, the Committee will enter into a closed session. Upon the conclusion of the closed session, a public vote will be held, first for the Third District vacancy, followed by a vote for the associate member vacancy. The candidate receiving a majority of the votes for each individual position will be appointed to fill the vacancies.
