Rachel Jones to be Recommended to fill Dist. 27B Vacancy

UPDATE 2/17/21: We are thrilled to announce that Rachel Jones has been selected by Governor Hogan to serve in the Maryland House of Delegates for District 27B. Her long experience in advocacy and public service has more than qualified her for this position, and we know she is ready to hit the ground running! We look forward to her continued service and dedication on behalf of the people of Calvert County. Congratulations to Ms. Jones, and we are excited to get to work!


A public hearing was held on Thursday, February 4th 2021 to fill the vacancy of House of Delegates District 27B. As a result of the proceedings, the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee has voted to recommend Rachel Jones to fill the vacancy. The recommendation was sent to Governor Hogan on Friday, February 5, and Governor Hogan has 15 days to decide to appoint Ms. Jones, or the candidate selected by the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee, Jacqueline Steele McCall.

We congratulate Ms. Jones and thank her for her continued service to the citizens of Calvert County. We also wish to thank all of the candidates who interviewed and were considered for this appointment. We look forward to working with you all in the future.
